WRISTLET CLUTCHES

Running around town during the day and need somewhere to store a few things?  A wristlet clutch is the perfect pouch.  Keep it in your larger purse or bag to have something smaller to use for meetings or events when you don't want your big bag in the way.

YELLOW CRUSH

Yellow is everywhere this spring/summer season.  Over and over again I hear people say "but I can't wear that color".  Yes you can!  It is a matter of finding what shade works best for your skin tone and hair color. Fair, light, medium (or olive), and dark skin tones all work with different shades.  Fair colored skin looks great in a bright citrus yellow.  Olive skin tone can wear mustard, pale yellow, citrus, or lime green/yellow.  Pale skin looks best in mustard color or marigold.  Dark skin tones can wear pale yellow, citrus yellow, or mustard though.  If you aren't sure what shade looks best for you, go to a fabric store and pull out swatches of different shades or find the shades online and print it and hold it up in a mirror and outside lighting to see which illuminates you.

Styling Tips:  Not ready to jump into a full yellow outfit or wanting to slowly ease into this color trend?  Try adding yellow accessories, such as a handbag, scarf, jewelry, or shoes to an outfit.  Wear your yellow shoes with a dark color such as navy, or black to give a fresh look that will flatter your hair and skin tone.

Wear a yellow print.  If all over yellow is not flattering to your skin tone, pick a print in a color(s) that work well for you.  Choose an eye catching print with yellow mixed in with colors that are flattering to your skin tone to look current.  Patterns are big this season.

Renee C. Blouse, $46.95

Diane von Furstenberg Moriko Dress, $255.50

Wear yellow with a more flattering color.  Are you loving the kelly green and bright blue hues that are all over this season?  Try a yellow top with bright blue pants or kelly green skirt.  Add a belt in a metallic tone, such as gold that highlight the outfit and pull it together.  Then add colored jewelry, such as bangles in gold, yellow, and other tones.  Layered bangles are great this season for adding color to an outfit.  Or try yellow with a navy suit or dress.  This is a fresh color combination.

Pair this blouse with white pants, a green slim fit pant, navy blue pants, or a white pencil skirt with blue heels.

PLEATED DRESSES IN NEW WAYS

The Pleat trend is back.  The accordian folds fall nicely to give a draping and design to an otherwise plain top or dress.  Be bold and try the pleats in a large pattern or start simply with a monotone color.  Pleated dresses and tops are great to add a topper, such as a cardigan, to give different textures and dimensions to your look.  Pleated dresses, skirts, and tops are available at all price points, but be cautionary when buying a less expensive piece as it is important that the pleats lay down correctly or it can add bulk.  Try pleats all over or some dresses just have pleats on the top portion and are straight on the bottom giving you a slimmer fit.

Style Tip:  If wearing a one-color dress such as those shown below, add a pop of color in your shoes, belt, clutch or accessories.  A chunky gold necklace with colored sandals looks great.  Your accessories shouldn't match or be all in the same color family (example blue shoes, with blue jewelry and clutch).  Mix it up to add dimension to your look.

Colorblocking is also a trend to try.  Try it with two-three colors to start or a more simple pattern and add on as you get more daring.

This dress is great to go casual during the day with flat jeweled sandals, then cinch the waist with a big belt and add heels and a long necklace to dress it up for night.

BCBGMAXAZARIA Calhoun Jumper, $248

When shopping for a jumpsuit, look for these features.  Wide legs generally are dressier.  The neckline adds interest so if detailed go with a bold cuff or earrings, if more simple add a statement necklace.  If it is a simpler jumpsuit, add a belt to cinch your waist and create interest.
